Ford just dropped something truly insane: the Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon. They took their already monstrous performance Mustang and cranked the exclusivity dial to eleven by doing one radical thing: they completely ditched the paint.
That's right. This beast is rolling out of the factory wearing nothing but its bare, exposed carbon fiber. It’s a bold visual flex, for sure, but it’s also a serious weight-saving move.
The coolest part? It’s not just a random carbon wrap. The team went through painstaking effort to perfectly align the carbon weave across every single body panel. So from the front bumper all the way to the rear diffuser, you get one seamless, symmetrical pattern that just screams high-tech craftsmanship.
So what do you get for losing the paint job? Besides turning every head on the planet, you shed about 13 pounds compared to the already-light Carbon Series model. They even swapped out the standard metal doors for lightweight bonded carbon fiber to shave off every possible ounce.
It comes fully loaded with the Performance package, including killer gloss black Brembo brakes stamped with "GTD" in anodized lettering. Inside, it’s a mix of black leather and suede, jazzed up with hyper-lime green stitching and some wild reflective patterns on the seats. Oh, and of course, plenty of carbon fiber trim to remind you what you're sitting in.
Under all that carbon, the heart of this machine is a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 that churns out a mind-bending 815 horsepower. It sends all that power to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, and it’s supposedly good for a top speed of over 200 mph.
As Greg Goodall, the chief engineer for the Mustang GTD, puts it, this Liquid Carbon version is the absolute peak of what they can do. If you have to ask how much it costs... well, they haven't said exactly. But with the regular GTD starting at a cool $327,000, let's just say this one will be for a very select few. The first lucky owners should get their keys this October.
