Gordon Murray Stuns with a Modern McLaren F1 Tribute—And One Mega-Fan Bought All Five
The S1 LM is Murray’s modern tribute to his most iconic creation—the McLaren F1—and its legendary 1995 Le Mans win. It blends the F1’s DNA with touches from the T50 and T50S, wrapped in a design that’s both nostalgic and fresh.

Monterey Car Week 2025 just got a whole lot more exciting, thanks to Gordon Murray Special Vehicles (GMSV). The legendary designer dropped not one, but two jaw-dropping V12 supercars—and one of them was so exclusive that a single collector bought every single example.
Gordon Murray Does It Again
Monterey Car Week is barely underway, but Murray has already stolen the show. Under his new GMSV banner, he unveiled the S1 LM and the Le Mans GTR—two bespoke machines that prove he’s still at the top of his game.
After the wild success of the T50, T50S, and T33 (all sold out, of course), Murray could’ve played it safe with updates. Instead, he went bigger—introducing two entirely new beasts.
The S1 LM: A Love Letter to the McLaren F1
The S1 LM is Murray’s modern tribute to his most iconic creation—the McLaren F1—and its legendary 1995 Le Mans win. It blends the F1’s DNA with touches from the T50 and T50S, wrapped in a design that’s both nostalgic and fresh.
The bodywork echoes the F1’s silhouette but adds contemporary flair—sleeker lighting, aggressive aero, and side ducts that mix retro oval vents with modern scoops. Under the hood? A 4.3-liter V12 roaring with over 700 hp, mated to a hybrid-assisted gearbox for lightning-fast shifts. The suspension is lighter and stiffer than the T50’s, meaning this thing handles like a dream.
Inside, it keeps the F1’s iconic three-seat layout, but with a minimalist, almost skeletal design. Only five will ever exist—and in a move that screams "ultimate flex," one buyer snagged them all.
"Timeless design is everything," Murray said. "I won’t sacrifice beauty just for shock value. This car proves elegance never goes out of style."

The Le Mans GTR: A Longtail Monster for the Track
If the S1 LM is the road-legal homage, the Le Mans GTR is its untamed, track-only sibling. Inspired by icons like the Porsche 917 and Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/3, it ditches the T50’s fan system in favor of pure aero—longtail bodywork, massive vents, and race-ready cooling.
The engine stays (same glorious V12), but it’s now solid-mounted for razor-sharp response. And while it’s built to dominate on track, owners can still customize it—even opting for a three-seat cockpit, because why not?
Only 24 will be made, each one a rolling piece of motorsport art.
"Longtail racers are the perfect mix of aerodynamics and beauty," Murray explained. "This is our take on that legacy—with today’s tech."
For the Right Buyer, Anything’s Possible
The S1 LM wasn’t even part of the original plan—it was born because one client wanted a modern tribute to the F1’s Le Mans glory. And that’s the magic of GMSV: if you’ve got the passion (and the budget), Murray’s team will make it happen.
Built on the T50’s bones but dialed up to 11, the S1 LM revives classic F1 GTR cues—like the roof scoop and quad exhaust—while adding modern touches like a split rear wing. From some angles, it’s almost a dead ringer for the ’95 original.
With a stiffer chassis, solid-mounted engine, and race-ready aero (including a massive splitter and diffuser), this thing means business. The 690+ hp V12 and six-speed manual? Just the cherry on top.
Deliveries start in 2026, but this is just the beginning for GMSV.
"At Gordon Murray Group, we live for engineering brilliance, lightweight design, and exclusivity," said CEO Phil Lee. "GMSV lets us go even further—building one-of-a-kind masterpieces with collectors who share our passion."
One thing’s clear: these aren’t just cars. They’re future classics in the making.
